About the Ride

Cincy Pedalfest 2013 presented by REI
Join us for the Second Annual Pedalfest presented by REI, Ride for the Trail along the Ohio River on Saturday, June 22 starting at Yeatman’s Cove. This year, as requested by many of you who rode in the inaugural event last we have listened and are adding a “pedal/paddle” component to the event. Participants can pedal 8.9 miles out to Coney Island, park and lock their bikes in the bike racks and paddle down river 8.2 miles to the Public Landing. To highlight the newly created Ohio River Trail, Pedalfest started in 2012 with over 400 riders and showcased the newest one-mile segment of the trail from Lunken Airport to Otto Armleder Park. The goal is to complete bike trail so that it will connect the remaining three-mile missing link from Lunken Airport with the Little Miami Bike Trail at Bass Island in Newtown. When completed, cyclists can ride to Lake Erie. The final part of the project would be funded by the Ohio Department of Transportation.
The route for the pedal/paddle ride will depart from Yeatman’s Cove, take park path east. Cross RR tracks and R turn onto Riverside Dr. R turn onto Corbin St., pick up Ohio River Trail. L on Carrel St. R on Airport Rd. Pick up Lunken Airport Trail (R turn away from Wilmer). R fork off trail into Kellogg. Continue on Kellogg/52 to Old Coney Island entrance. **Anyone interested in participating in the event must either rent or bring their own boat. Rental boats may be picked up at the paddle event no later than 8:15 am. If you own your own boat you may drop it off anytime on Friday from 10 am – 9 pm, so it is ready for you on Saturday.
For all other riders (8 am riders) the Ride for the Trail route departs from Yeatman’s Cove in downtown Cincinnati thru wonderful Cincinnati Parks and Hamilton County Parks, along the beautiful Ohio River, to Lunken Playfield bike trail to the new Armleder Park bike trail and returns to Yeatman’s Cove where you started just in time for the colorful parade on river of the canoes, kayaks, rafts, and SUP’s arrival at the Gold Star Chili Finish Line Festival. All festival goers can enjoy great food, live music by Hickory Robot Bluegrass Band and a lazy day along the river, meeting friends in celebration of the River and the Ohio River Trail.
All monies raised from Cincy Pedalfest cover event expenses and the maintenance and expansion of the Ohio River Trail.
